Hi Reader

The rush to Christmas can be intense. Last-minute client work. Family logistics. The desperate search for that final gift. Plus fitting in all those those random Christmas films that are either instant classics or total
flops.

Then the pace changes. The energy shifts. We get that precious space for reflection.

I used to fill this pause with task-ticking and vague planning. But I was missing its real value.

Because the space we get - and the reflections that it triggers - can be precious. Especially when you want to build something meaningful.

Here are three questions I use to make the most of this reflective time. They'll help you think beyond generic business planning and tune into the real impact you want to make.

1/ Define where you're heading

We often constrain our thinking about the future. We filter it through practicality before we've even explored what's possible.

So let's change that with your first question:

What could your fullest, most purposeful impact look like in 2025?

Don't edit this vision. Don't let your inner critic jump in with "but how?" or "that's too ambitious."

Think about:

  • The specific transformation you want to create for others
  • The exact type of client who needs your unique approach
  • The distinctive way you solve problems that others can't
  • The wider ripples your work could create

I get that this can be quite hard in the abstract. (It's why we spend time on it in the Ambition Accelerator.) But Let me share two examples of how different business owners might answer question:

A personal branding expert:

"I'll help purpose-driven leaders build magnetic brands that attract their ideal clients and create lasting impact - moving beyond just looking good to truly standing out."

A business coach for skilled trade business owners:

"I'll help 100 skilled trades owners transform from overwhelmed sole operators into confident business leaders running profitable, growing companies that don't depend on them being on every job."

2/ Understand your patterns

To grow we don't just constantly move forward. We also must understand what's been holding us back, lowering our aim and slowing our pace. Because those same patterns will try to limit our next chapter too.

Reflect deeply:

How would the current version of you try to hold back that 2025 impact?

We all have patterns that keep us playing smaller than we need to:

  • Staying in your expertise comfort zone instead of leading with your full value
  • Taking on "good enough" clients instead of ideal ones
  • Avoiding visibility opportunities that could amplify your impact
  • Prioritizing busy work over strategic growth moves

Here's how our example business owners recognised their patterns:

The branding expert:

"I spend too much time perfecting design details instead of pushing clients to define the bold positioning that would really set them apart. I know deep brand strategy creates more impact than pixel-perfect design, but it's harder to have those challenging conversations."

The business coach:

"I let myself get pulled into tactical pricing and scheduling advice because it's easier than pushing them to tackle the mindset shifts needed to step fully into their leadership role. I know they need strategic guidance but I default to what feels immediately helpful."

3/ Set a new intent

The gap between our present and our potential doesn't only need skills or strategy to close. We need to think about who we become along the way too.

Consider this:

How will the you of 2025 handle things differently to scale your impact?

And you don't need to be unrealistic or try to be someone you're not. This is much more about making conscious choices to:

  • Lead with your expertise instead of hiding behind modesty
  • Make decisions based on impact rather than comfort
  • Set boundaries that protect your bigger mission
  • Choose growth even when it feels uncomfortable

Here's how our business owners mapped out their practical approaches to change:

The branding expert:

"When a client wants to focus on visual tweaks, I'll confidently redirect our energy to their strategic positioning first. I'll share examples of how bold positioning drives results, making it easier for them to commit to the deeper work."

The business coach:

"Each time a client wants quick tactical fixes, I'll guide them to see how investing time in leadership and systems will solve multiple problems at once. I'll show them real examples of trades who've made this shift successfully."

Wrap Up

You've already made meaningful progress in 2024. Every challenge you've faced, every success you've had – they're part of your foundations for what's next.

Let the reflections and insights settle. Even let them mingle with the warmth and connection of the season.

Because you're laying the foundations for your next level of impact. And that deserves more than standard goal-setting or rushed resolutions.

Let me leave you with this week's reflective question:

What's the single biggest shift you could make in how you show up that would make your 2025 vision inevitable?

Please share your reflections with me, or any feedback on Ignition Point. I read and respond to every reply.

Stay ambitious. And Merry Christmas.
