Even Your Quick Wins Need Solid Foundations

Hi Reader

There's a crucial difference between short-term wins that fade and the wins that last and compound.

I was reminded of this recently when someone shared a collection of "breakthrough frameworks" on LinkedIn. It was a compilation of popular advice from various creators that had been scraped together. And it sparked a rush of comments and tags. It felt like they were all chasing the promise that one download might change everything.

And that’s the lure of the silver bullet. But ironically, it often stalls the very progress we want.

Quick wins?

It's easy to be pulled in by the pitch of a quick fix. We imagine the leap forward it might create. We like the idea of a hidden shortcut.

And sometimes wins do arrive. But often, they’re either insubstantial or just enough to keep us searching for the next breakthrough.

The real cost isn’t just the time we waste. It’s the false sense of progress that pushes back the work that would build lasting capability and change. Growth that’s grounded, not fragile.

One hint you might be in fragile territory: every option starts to look equally appealing. You can’t prioritise or see which tactics will genuinely work for you. That’s usually a sign you’re missing deeper clarity - the vision, principles, and structure that make those choices obvious.

Get Grounded

When you stop chasing silver bullets and focus on building deeper foundations, your progress changes. You’ll still get quick wins, but now they’re chosen and shaped within a strong framework: clear principles, strategic rhythm, and a real understanding of what you’re building towards.

Clarifying what you actually stand for, not just what you do, can instantly sharpen your next conversation (quick win) and become a filter for every future decision (foundation).

Establishing a planning rhythm that truly fits your business might make the first week more focused (quick win), but over time it creates the consistent space for bigger thinking and sustainable growth.

With the right core in place, the right quick wins stand out. They carry more weight. And they'll multiply rather than scatter your progress.

Foundations = Faster

In my work, I’ve seen the value of both: the deeper work that matures your foundation, and the quick, aligned wins that prove and strengthen it.

One client had several strong opportunities but lacked the foundations to choose. In just two focused sessions, we clarified where they were heading, why it mattered, and how that path built on all they’d done before. With that framing, the right quick wins became obvious, and each one moved them closer to the bigger vision.

This principle shapes how I work with clients in my new Impact Accelerator. We start quickly to build a strong core of foundational elements, then work in short, iterative cycles to build momentum.

We don’t spend months in theory, and you’re not left chasing stand-alone wins. Every step reinforces and accelerates the bigger picture. Drop me a reply if you're ready for grounded progress and want to learn more. I’ve got a handful of early access places available and I'm always happy to explore if it's right for you.

Fragile wins can feel satisfying in the moment, but they rarely stand the test of time. They fade, leaving you back where you started. But when you mature your foundations and pair them with the right quick wins, progress stops being temporary and starts becoming transformational.

So here's this week's reflection:

Where are you chasing silver bullets, and where are you building the foundations to let your quick wins stick?

Stay ambitious.
